Welcome you to the Asheville First Christian Church(Disciples of Christ) web page.
Asheville First Christian Church (DOC) has been in ministry in Buncombe County since 1858 when one extended family started meeting in Alexander for Bible study and the Lord's supper. They soon moved to downtown where they built their first church in 1887 on Church Street. In 1902 a new church was built across from St. Lawrence Basilica. The congregation worshiped there until 1927 when they moved into their new building at 20 Oak Street. We worshiped and ministered there for 80 years and were known as the church with the red door at 20 Oak Street.
We are now embarking on a new ministry in a new building at 470 Enka Lake Road. We hope to be in the new facility by Easter 2009. We are now worshiping at 123 Kenilworth Road in the Fellowship Hall of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church.
